Review: Angelo Hotel, Prague

Introduction:

P1030632Time of year: January 2018.

Purpose of trip: This was the first night of a week-long trip to explore some less well known parts of the Czech Republic, ideal for empty nester breaks.

Why we chose this place: We landed in Prague and were delighted to find that this impressive and central hotel was just a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the airport.

How long we stayed: One night.

Our accommodation: We stayed in a double room on the executive floor of the Angelo Prague Vienna House Hotel. This was a spacious room with a large, incredibly comfortable double bed fitted with top quality bedding and superbly soft pillows. We were treated to a welcome tray of cookies and fresh fruit. There were tea and coffee making options in the room, and more just outside the door by the lift area. The sparklingly clean, spacious ensuite shower room had a large, contemporary shower and fluffy towels, with bathrobes and slippers available in the wardrobe. The strikingly designed room, with red and black colour accents, overlooked the city’s commercial district.

Service: All of the staff we encountered, from those on reception, to the breakfast servers and housekeeping team, were welcoming, friendly and professional.

Location:  In a commercial street in central Prague, on Radlicka 3216.

Food: We had a delicious breakfast here. On offer was a full range of choices, from a variety of yoghurts with fresh fruits and savoury options, to pastries and warm croissants and jams, eggs with bacon and sausages plus miso soup and rice noodles. There were fresh fruit juices on offer and hot drinks from a self serve machine.

What we paid: We received one night’s complimentary stay at Hotel Angelo in return for writing a review. Expect to pay around £120 a night for an executive room.

Activities close by: There are many of Prague’s cultural, commercial, historic and retail attractions within a comfortable walk, metro, bus, tram or taxi ride.

What empty nesters might really like about this place: This is a large, impressive looking hotel within easy reach of many of Prague’s most popular tourist spots, but with the slightly quieter feel you can often experience in a city’s commercial district. The staff are professional and friendly; and our room was extremely well appointed and comfortable. The hotel has a bar open until midnight on the day we stayed.

What empty nesters might not be so keen on: We love the slightly calmer feel of commercial areas in big cities. With that often comes more of a ‘business’ atmosphere in a hotel like this–again, not a downside for us (sometimes it’s nice to be in a place with a more adult feel )but one worth mentioning if you’re looking for somewhere with more of a ‘romantic’ vibe.

In the interest of disclosure, we received one night’s stay at Hotel Angelo on the promise of writing a review. If we had had criticisms about any aspect of the accommodation or the service, we would have written about it. For more on our disclosure policy, read here
